Maddox Middle School and Walker High School Spring Concert

The bands of both Maddox Middle School and Walker High School will be having their annual Spring Concert this Thursday evening, April 9th at 7:00 PM in the Rowland Hall Auditorium at the Jasper Campus of Bevill State Community College. Admission is free. Don't miss out on this exciting performance!

Christmas Concert

The Walker High School Symphonic Band, The Walker Vikings Premier Edition Jazz Ensemble, and the Maddox Middle School Bands will present their 2008 Christmas Concert on Thursday, December 11th, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Maddox Middle School Auditorium. Free Admission. We hope to see everyone there.

Congratulations to the Walker High School Viking Band for achieving all superior ratings at this past Saturday's "Heart of Dixie" Band Competition in Prattville, Alabama. The band also received best in class colorguard, percussion, and band! Congrats Viking Band!

The Heart of Dixie Band Festival

This upcoming Saturday, the Walker High School Viking Band will compete in the 21st annual Heart of Dixie Band Festival in Prattville, Alabama. Please report to the band room at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 11th. Be prepared for a small rehearsal that morning. We will then leave right for Prattville when rehearsal concludes.

The Viking Band performs at 4:50 p.m.

Please remember to stay hydrated this week.

First Day of School!

Hey everyone,

The first day of school is August 11th. For Walker students, if you need to bring your instrument to the band room, please do. But please do not sit in your cars outside waiting for the bell to ring. For Maddox students, please drop off your instrument in the band room when you get to school and then report to the theater to wait for the first bell.

We hope that everyone has a great first day!

Hey Band,

Just a reminder that we have band camp on July 17th, 18th, 19th, 21st, and 22nd. The schedule is from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. and then 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. I look forward to seeing everyone there.

Make sure you bring your instrument. Wear tennis shoes, and make sure you are keeping hydrated even before band camp gets here.

We also have rehearsals on Thursday, July 10th and Tuesday, July 15th from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

It is with great pleasure that I announce that we have been officially accepted to the 89th Annual Veterans Day Parade, in New York City on Tuesday, November 11, 2008.

I am so happy to announce that we are reforming the Walker High School Jazz Band next year. For the first semester, it is not a class, but we will meet Monday's after school for an hour.

Auditions will be the first week of school. We are in need of alto saxes, tenor saxes, a bari sax. Trombones, Trumpets, and a rhythm section (which is comprised of a drum set, piano/keyboard, and bass). Anyone interested in auditioning should email Mr. Saunders at dsaunders@jasper.k12.al.us.

I hope everyone is having a great summer. Please stay tuned for my information. See you at band camp!

Thank you so much for your hardwork this year, and for making this one of the best years for the Walker Band! We look forward to seeing all of you in July. Until then, have a safe and fun summer!
